The Ohio House has adopted House Concurrent Resolution 40, urging Congress to create the Ohio River Restoration Program Act. This initiative targets the Ohio River Basin, which includes Carroll County and serves over 25 million people, including two-thirds of Ohio’s population. The program aims to enhance water quality, restore ecosystems, and boost local economies, as the Ohio River is vital for drinking water and economic activities. State Reps. Monica Robb Blasdel and Kevin Ritter emphasized the economic importance of the river and called for bipartisan support to address challenges like pollution and infrastructure aging. The resolution now heads to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
