PennEnvironment has called for legislative action after discovering microplastics in over 130 samples from the Delaware River watershed. Advocate Faran Savitz reported that every tested site contained microplastics, regardless of location. The group proposed 18 measures for federal, state, and local officials, including holding plastic manufacturers accountable for recycling costs and phasing out single-use plastics. Dr. David Velinsky emphasized the need for effective regulations to address the issue at its source and suggested using water filtration at home.
