The Regional District of Nanaimo is inviting applications for grants aimed at community projects that enhance or monitor regional watercourses. The Stewardship Seed Funding grants range from $1,000 to $10,000 per project, with a total of $55,000 available for 2025. There is no application deadline, and funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until the budget is exhausted.

Eligible projects must be led by non-profit organizations, involve community volunteers, secure necessary permissions, and focus on improving water health. Priority will be given to projects that align with RDN-supported assessments, like the Community Watershed Monitoring Network.

Since 2016, the program has funded 35 watershed initiatives with over $94,000 allocated for various restoration projects. For more information and application details, visit the RDN website or contact the water stewardship team.
