A brush fire near Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, escalated into an uncontrolled wildfire on Sunday afternoon, burning approximately 25 acres and prompting evacuations. The fire began around 2 p.m. near Cook Gulch Road and quickly spread towards State Highway 55 due to strong winds. Authorities issued a Level 1 Evacuation Notice, indicating residents should be ready to leave. Firefighters successfully contained the wildfire by 4 p.m., and the evacuation order was lifted. This incident underscores the dangers of burning conditions and emphasizes the importance of safety measures recommended by Idaho Firewise, such as checking weather conditions and preparing adequately for controlled burns.
