The South Korean government announced that it will grant special contributor residency status to three Indonesian nationals who helped evacuate elderly residents during a wildfire in Uiseong County on February 25. Lee Han-kyung, deputy director of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, expressed gratitude to those who risked their safety to save others. As of now, 3,193 individuals remain in temporary shelters due to wildfire damage, with distributed relief items totaling approximately 988,000. Public donations for relief have reached 92.5 billion won ($63.4 million). A Central Joint Support Center has received numerous civil complaints from victims, mainly regarding facility restoration and disaster relief. The restoration of essential services is nearing completion, and plans are underway to provide 1,460 modular housing units for displaced residents. Efforts to prevent future wildfires are emphasized, especially with the critical season approaching.
