City leaders are collaborating with the Sierra Club to address environmental concerns at the undeveloped land behind the new Holiday Inn and Alton Multimodal Transportation Station, formerly the Muny Golf Course. A creek on the property is affected by a 30-inch stormwater outlet due to recent development. The restoration plan involves stabilizing the soil with river stones, boulders, and native plants. A prescribed burn will initiate the project, with most work planned for the summer.
