Carson City resident Cliff Fitterer, concerned about wildfire preparedness following the Davis Fire and Los Angeles blazes, organized a drill with local first responders for his Lakeview neighborhood. On Wednesday, residents received evacuation texts and moved to the Carson City Community Center for a wildfire response simulation. Meanwhile, emergency teams coordinated in a nearby parking lot to address evacuation needs for a simulated advancing fire. Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon emphasized the importance of training, especially in Lakeview, which has limited access points. After the drill, local organizations provided information on fire response roles. Fitterer noted the simulation’s positive feedback and stressed the necessity of preparedness in real emergencies.
