California homeowners displaced by recent wildfires and floods can apply for up to $20,000 in mortgage relief through the new CalAssist Mortgage Fund starting June 12. This $100 million grant program is managed by the California Housing Finance Agency, providing funds to cover three months of mortgage payments for eligible homeowners whose homes were destroyed or uninhabitable due to disasters from January 1, 2023, to January 8, 2025.

Grants are direct payments to mortgage servicers and do not require repayment; funds are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants must meet income limits, have a mortgage, and provide necessary documentation. Further details are available at www.CalAssistMortgageFund.org or by calling 1-800-501-0019. The initiative aims to alleviate financial struggles for families affected by disasters.
