Eight projects aimed at restoring streams, reducing agricultural runoff, controlling stormwater, and protecting drinking water within the Schuylkill River Watershed will receive nearly $655,000 in grants from the 2026 Schuylkill River Restoration Fund. Announced by Schuylkill River Greenways during a tour of previous projects, these grants total $653,402 and support initiatives that improve water quality. Since 2006, the fund has allocated over $6 million for 127 projects, enhancing the watershed’s health.
Highlighted projects include:
- MIL JOY Farm (Berks County): $99,800 for new manure storage and stormwater controls.
- Seven Riparian Restoration Projects (Berks County): $91,076 for restoring streams and planting native vegetation.
- South Branch French Creek (Chester County): $86,900 for restoring stream corridors and improving habitats.
- Pachella Gully Phase 2 (Philadelphia): $100,000 for gully restoration to protect drinking water sources.
- Other projects include improvements on farms and streambank stabilization efforts in Lebanon, Montgomery, and Schuylkill counties.
The Restoration Fund’s collaborative approach addresses water quality issues holistically, benefiting communities and ecosystems across southeastern Pennsylvania. It demonstrates successful public-private partnerships focused on the long-term health of the Schuylkill River and its tributaries.
