The Texas A&M Forest Service has identified 92 Texas counties under outdoor burn bans due to dry soil and a lack of rain, with a moderate to high wildfire threat expected through Monday. Central Texas is experiencing cooler mornings but warm afternoons, making it suitable for outdoor activities like Oktoberfest. Despite expectations of dryer conditions this weekend, the month is on track to be one of Austin’s driest Septembers on record, with only 0.08 inches of rain measured compared to the average of 3 inches. The U.S. Drought Monitor indicates moderate drought across South-Central Texas. Residents are advised to prepare for wildfire risks by clearing flammable materials from properties.
