Maryland’s Whole Watershed Program is progressing with 37 priority restoration projects across five selected watersheds, including Antietam Creek and the Upper Choptank River. These initiatives, funded through the Whole Watershed Act, aim to address local issues such as flooding, habitat restoration, and equitable waterfront access. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is collaborating with multiple agencies and partners, allocating over $11 million in state funding, matched by additional funds. Key projects include stormwater management, tree planting in urban areas, and oyster reef construction. In 2026, monitoring and community engagement plans will be implemented to assess impact and progress. For more information, contact the program coordinators.
