Islanders in Guernsey have been cautioned against starting bonfires following a wildfire near Rue à Fresne that burned an area equivalent to three football pitches. The Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service responded quickly, with crews controlling the flames and later dampening the site to prevent reignition. Rory Quesnel, the duty acting watch commander, emphasized the dangers of controlled burns in dry conditions, warning that such fires can escalate rapidly, especially with windy weather. The police also advised the public to steer clear of the area during firefighting efforts.
