Amazon has partnered with the Australian River Restoration Centre (ARRC) for a ten-year project to restore the degraded Coxs River in Greater Western Sydney, critical for supplying drinking water to millions. The initiative will improve water quality and availability by nearly 400 million litres per year. Key strategies include removing invasive willows, stabilizing eroding banks, and implementing livestock exclusion measures to reduce pollution.

The project aims to enhance native habitats for species such as platypus and freshwater crayfish, supporting biodiversity and community water security. This marks Amazon’s second water replenishment effort in Australia, linking to its goal of becoming water positive by 2030.

Through these initiatives, Amazon plans to not only address immediate water quality issues but also enhance long-term ecosystem resilience, while the ARRC provides expertise in sustainable river management.
