There is a movement to repeal Oregon’s wildfire hazard map, which has faced criticism for potentially lowering property values in high-risk fire areas. The Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Wildfire has advanced the legislation. While state law prohibits insurance companies from increasing rates based on the map, some homeowners fear that they could still face higher costs. The bill will now be voted on by the full Senate.
