Britain will use military helicopters and aircraft for wildfire fighting for the first time, following its hottest summer on record. The Royal Air Force’s Chinook helicopters and A400M transport planes will support emergency services in remote areas. The government plans to allocate up to £45 million for specialized response teams and equipment, along with £25 million for peatland restoration to reduce wildfire risks. An AI unit will be established to enhance wildfire prediction and tracking, and there will be collaboration with the Met Office for improved forecasting and risk assessment.
