A nonprofit conservation organization announced the acquisition of land in the Elk River estuary, marking a significant step in conservation efforts. Additionally, this acquisition is seen as a moment of restorative justice for the Wiyot Tribe, as one of the parcels returned to them holds great historical and cultural importance, known as “Chwanuchguk” in their native language, Soulatluk.
