On Monday evening, over 200 firefighters battled three grass fires in east London, impacting areas in Dagenham, Hornchurch, and Walthamstow Marshes. Residents in Dagenham were temporarily evacuated as flames consumed eight hectares (20 acres) of grass, shrubland, and nearby properties. Firefighters employed jets and wildfire beaters to control the blaze, which nearly reached homes. The cause is under investigation, and the London Fire Brigade (LFB) warns of a potentially challenging summer due to dry weather. Enhanced wildfire training is underway, and the LFB urges residents to act responsibly to prevent further fires, advising against the use of disposable barbecues in public areas.
