Belgium is battling a significant wildfire in the High Fens region, deploying over 250 emergency personnel, including Belgian and German firefighters, police, and military. The blaze has become the country’s largest on record, fueled by unusually dry conditions and strong winds. In Greece, a wildfire on Salamina Island resulted in two fatalities, forcing evacuations of about 500 beachgoers. Local firefighters responded vigorously with 260 personnel and various aircraft. Other European countries, including Sweden and the Netherlands, have provided support. Meanwhile, France faces ongoing wildfires in its pine forests, and the UK is combating multiple blazes amid drought conditions, with temperatures soaring to 100.6°F. In Germany, firefighters have made progress against a wildfire in the Hürtgen Forest, allowing evacuated residents to return home.
