A crew of firefighters from Boiling Spring Lakes, N.C., has returned after assisting with wildfires in western North Carolina. Joshua Freeman, a BSLFR firefighter, emphasized the importance of helping others, even outside their community. While most members were inexperienced with large wildfires, Jimmy Prince shared his past experiences in Washington, battling extensive fires. The team faced challenges due to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which left dry conditions that intensified flames. Fire Captain Bill Lathrop praised his team’s dedication. As they return to their routines in Brunswick County, fires continue to be fought in the western region.
