Colorado Governor Jared Polis, along with Colorado Springs and the Fountain Creek Watershed District, announced two grants totaling $700,000 aimed at restoring and conserving the Fountain Creek Watershed. Funded by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation through the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, these grants will enhance water quality, reduce erosion, mitigate flooding, and protect infrastructure and wildlife.

Specifically, $300,000 will be allocated for developing a water strategy for the Monument Creek corridor, while $400,000 will focus on restoring a 1.5-mile section of the Fountain Creek Basin to improve the stream system and recreational access. Both initiatives are part of the COS Creek Plan, emphasizing the collaborative efforts to sustain and improve the area’s natural resources.
