Amazon will support the restoration of 425 acres along Indiana’s Bogus Run waterway, aiming to enhance habitats that feed into the Kankakee River. The Shirley Heinze Land Trust will manage the project, which involves managing invasive plants, restoring woodlands, and creating native sand prairie. The initiative is projected to improve water retention by over 110 million gallons annually. This is Amazon’s third water replenishment project in northwest Indiana, coinciding with its extensive data center developments in the region, which have raised water usage concerns, leading some counties to impose moratoriums on new projects.
