Six Guam residents have begun training with the University of Guam’s program to restore the Ugum watershed, aimed at preparing them for conservation jobs and reducing sediment runoff harmful to coral reefs. The six-month training includes techniques like seed collection, reforestation, and data gathering. Participants hope to acquire skills for community benefit, with a focus on land conservation and pollution solutions. The initiative, supported by a USDA Forest Service grant, emphasizes job readiness and community involvement. The program is a continuation of previous efforts to enhance sustainability on the island, with plans for further recruitment in December.
