On November 7, Jefferson County residents can attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the expanded LaBarque Creek Conservation Area near Eureka, showcasing a new 15-acre addition. Approved by the Missouri Conservation Commission, this land was purchased with donations from the Mysun Charitable Foundation and the Robert Trulaske Jr. Family Foundation. The expansion aims to protect the ecologically diverse LaBarque Creek watershed, crucial for local wildlife, including 54 fish species. Open Space STL, which has collaborated with the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) on this project, emphasizes its commitment to conservation. The area features a three-mile hiking trail, enhancing access to this natural resource.
