The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) is containing a wildfire near Lualualei Naval Road and Paakea Road, which has burned 75 acres and is 80% contained as of 8:28 p.m. No homes are currently threatened, and air operations have ceased for the night. Earlier, 19 units, including 10 engines and two helicopters, responded to the incident. This fire is the second on Oahu’s leeward coast in 24 hours, following a Sunday fire in Maili that scorched 55 acres, resulted in the death of a 94-year-old woman and a pitbull, and damaged two properties. The cause of the Maili fire is still under investigation.
