A habitat restoration project along the Blue River in Silverthorne has resumed after a federal funding freeze delayed it. The Blue River Watershed Group received a $1.8 million grant in 2023, but funding was paused due to an executive order from the Trump administration. In late April, federal reimbursements began again, allowing the group to continue planning. The project aims to restore natural water cycles and the river’s Gold Medal fishing status lost in 2016. Despite previous uncertainties, partnership with Trout Unlimited and local funding helps support progress. A future construction grant is pending, with a contingency plan in place if needed.
