A wildfire on Iron Mesa in Gila National Forest has reached 901 acres and is 0% contained. It was reported at noon on Sunday, prompting an evacuation order for recreational facilities at Snow Lake, though no residential evacuations have been issued. The U.S. Forest Service indicates areas at risk include Willow Creek and endangered wildlife. The fire is burning in the Whitewater Baldy burn scar with heavy dead timber. Various agencies, including the Gila and Idaho City Hotshots, are responding, and additional resources are being deployed. A Type 3 Incident Management Team will take control on Tuesday.
