Summary:

Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson announced a $6.3 million grant through the Future Forests Program and RESTORE program to support state forest restoration. The initiative aims to improve forest health and water quality by funding tree planting and timber upgrades, benefiting non-industrial private landowners, local governments, and nonprofits. The application deadline is March 27, 2026. Since 2021, $18 million has been allocated to enhance over 50,000 acres of forests in Florida. Additionally, a $2.3 million grant for the RESTORE Landowner Incentive Program will also assist landowners in priority watersheds. The Florida Forest Service manages over 1.2 million acres of state forests and addresses wildfire protection across 26 million acres.
