The Bee Rock Creek Fire in McDowell County, N.C., has grown to over 500 acres with only 10% containment, prompting evacuation orders for residents on Wild Acres Road. More than 175 firefighters, including those from Montana and Oregon, are battling the blaze with long shifts. Fire crews are also focused on safety by monitoring trees that could fall and ignite other areas. Efforts to clear roads of debris ahead of fire season have proven beneficial for quick access. Dry conditions and gusty winds continue to raise wildfire risks in Western North Carolina.
