Residents in central and eastern Washington who suffered significant damage or destruction to their homes due to wildfires on or after June 14, 2026, have until October 30, 2026, to apply for state Individual Assistance. This program offers immediate support for temporary housing, food, and minor repairs. Eligible counties include Benton, Chelan, Columbia, Douglas, Ferry, Grant, Kittitas, Okanogan, Spokane, Stevens, Whitman, and Yakima, as well as lands of the Yakama Nation, Colville Reservation, and Spokane Tribe of Indians. Assistance amounts are $750 for one-person households, $1,500 for two to four people, and $2,250 for households of five or more. Applications can be submitted online, by calling 2-1-1, or in person at the S.C.O.P.E. North Station in Spokane. Applicants should provide proof of identity and documents confirming their primary residence was affected. Those who have been denied assistance can file up to two appeals within 30 days of each denial. (khq.com)
