A wildfire in Maili has burned 95 acres and damaged two homes, prompting evacuations. The fire was reported around 2:33 p.m. and was 20% contained by 4:43 p.m. It escalated to 75% containment by 7:34 p.m. Firefighters, including units from the Honolulu Fire Department and the Federal Fire Department, quickly responded. An evacuation order was issued for neighborhoods mauka of Kulaaupuni Road and later rescinded. Residents were advised to use an emergency shelter at Waianae Intermediate School, which is pet-friendly. Hawaiian Electric cut power to 30 homes for safety. One person was treated for smoke inhalation. The response has been commended for its efficiency amid worsening dry conditions.
