The public is invited to share concerns about water quality in the Runyon Creek watershed through a survey, part of a 9-Element Watershed Restoration Plan aimed at securing funding for stormwater projects to reduce pollution and flooding. This plan is a collaboration between Sound Rivers, the City of Washington, and the Mid-East Commission, with support from local universities. The survey seeks input on issues like pollution and erosion, which local residents, including Kiley Kattawar, have voiced concerns about, particularly regarding swimming in the creek due to pollution. The watershed, affected by nearby agricultural and residential areas, often experiences high bacteria counts after heavy rain. The survey is available online and at several local sites, and an open-house event will follow to discuss solutions once the survey closes.
