Sarasota County will commence the $25 million Alligator Creek Stream Restoration Project on October 12, aimed at enhancing water quality, restoring habitats, and boosting coastal resilience over the next two years. The project involves transforming 2.3 miles of Alligator Creek into a natural stream and is partly funded by a $14.5 million NOAA grant. Initial work will occur east of Jacaranda Boulevard, with expected lane closures. The initiative will reduce pollution in the creek and improve water flow. Completion is anticipated by fall 2028. Additional community events, fundraisers, and initiatives in the area were also highlighted, including a business expo and support for local law enforcement.
