President-elect Donald Trump plans to visit the Los Angeles area next week to assess wildfire damage, marking his first trip outside Washington after his inauguration. He stated it’s more appropriate to visit as president and mentioned a potential delay in his trip to ensure it aligns with his new role. The wildfires have resulted in at least 27 deaths and over 12,000 destroyed structures. Trump noted his disaster relief response will require policy changes in California, particularly regarding water management. Although invited by Governor Gavin Newsom to see the destruction, Trump has not yet communicated with the governor, who criticized his prior remarks on the wildfire response.
