Residents of Carolina Forest, S.C., including those in Walker Woods and Avalon, are returning home after mandatory evacuations due to a 1,600-acre wildfire. Wendy and Luis Ruiz, who evacuated from Avalon, described the frantic nature of their departure, prioritizing essentials. They monitored the situation via their backyard camera and found solace in prayer, emphasizing hope and community during the crisis. Thankfully, their home remained undamaged, and they are grateful for the efforts of firefighting crews. The experience has deepened their appreciation for home and neighborhood connections.
