Ducks Unlimited (DU) received a $2.5 million grant from the James M. Cox Foundation to enhance wetland conservation in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. This funding will support habitat restoration for wildlife, providing vital ecosystem services, including clean water and flood protection, benefiting over 18 million residents in the region. DU has now received over $200 million from the foundation and its chairman, Jim Kennedy, for various conservation efforts.

The Chesapeake Bay, a crucial estuary, drives a $63 billion outdoor recreation economy and supports a significant commercial seafood industry. DU, established in 1937, is the largest nonprofit dedicated to conserving North America’s wetlands, with a mission bolstered by its $3 billion “Conservation For A Continent” campaign. The James M. Cox Foundation focuses on biodiversity and community support, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation.
