Point Blue Conservation Science recently hosted the Sierra Meadows Partnership annual gathering in Chester, drawing around 100 conservationists, scientists, and practitioners to focus on meadow restoration in the Sierra Nevada. Held from May 28-30, the event featured representatives from various sectors sharing research and strategies.

The gathering began with a field tour of the Childs Meadow Project. Presentations included discussions on collaborative watershed restoration by Shannon Williams of the Maidu Summit Consortium and Arnold Trippel of the Tule River Indian Tribe, along with Vincent Vitale from the Sierra Institute on scaling restoration efforts.

Research highlighted topics like machine learning for streamflow predictions, carbon flux modeling, and small-mammal community studies. Breakout sessions addressed compliance, restoration practices, and scientific knowledge gaps, while evening talks showcased regional projects.

On the final day, field tours to Tásmam Koyóm and Rock Creek meadows allowed participants to witness restoration techniques in action. The partnership continues to strengthen science-based conservation in the region.
