The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has rebranded its Chesapeake and Coastal Service to Watershed and Climate Services (WCS) to emphasize its focus on climate change and watershed restoration. The new name reflects a commitment to supporting all Maryland communities through resilient practices and healthy ecosystems. WCS will continue efforts to mitigate climate impacts like flooding and rising sea levels, while also advancing projects for watershed protection and restoration. The unit’s holistic approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of Maryland’s water systems and aims to foster collaboration with various organizations and communities. WCS also offers resources and training to build a restoration workforce and address climate resilience statewide.
