The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country has allocated $14 million in grants for flood relief along the Guadalupe River following the July 4 flood. CEO Austin Dickson emphasized that restoring vegetation is crucial for reducing future flooding. Funding includes $1.5 million for the Hill Country Alliance’s seeding programs, which has already distributed over 6,000 pounds of native seeds and plans to give away an additional 15,000 plants. The San Antonio Botanical Garden received $3 million to plant 50,000 native trees from locally collected seeds.

Most notable is the $8.2 million for rebuilding Louise Hays Park, which will feature a playground, splash pad, and more. Other allocations include $375,000 for Guadalupe Park reconstruction, $460,000 for the Kerrville River Trail, and funds for invasive species removal and volunteer-led restoration efforts. Additionally, $30,000 is set aside for a documentary titled “Hope for the Guadalupe.”
