Fire crews quickly contained a small forest fire east of Kenora that affected traffic on Highway 17. The fire, known as Kenora 15, was confirmed on the evening of June 5, located about 31 kilometers east of Kenora near Hawk Lake Road. Two FireRanger crews responded, and by June 6 at 11:30 a.m. CDT, the fire was under control, measuring 0.5 hectares. The Ontario Provincial Police managed traffic, temporarily reducing the highway to a single lane. No injuries or damages reported, and crews continue to monitor the area.
