A landslide in the Bridger Mountains has transformed Bridger Creek into a murky, tea-colored stream, impacting local waterways and potentially reaching far downstream, including the Mississippi River. Lilly McLane from the Gallatin Watershed Council emphasized the interconnectedness of water systems and noted that sediment transport, while normal, can negatively affect fisheries during such events. Despite the changes, Morgan Jacobsen from Fish Wildlife & Parks reported stable fish populations and highlighted their adaptability. McLane warned that while visible pollution can be alarming, much water pollution is often invisible and requires ongoing attention.
