Maynilad Water Services has launched its 2026 Plant for Life program, aiming to plant 230,225 indigenous tree seedlings over 450 hectares in the Ipo Watershed, collaborating with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). This initiative, vital for the Angat-Ipo water system supplying Metro Manila, aims to combat soil erosion, enhance biodiversity, and ensure long-term water sustainability.
The program focuses on sustained care of planted areas through partnerships with local organizations, maintaining an impressive seedling survival rate of over 85% and achieving 92.1% in 2025. Indigenous species like narra and kalumpit will be planted to restore local flora. Since its inception in 2007, Plant for Life has seen over 1.64 million seedlings planted across 2,420 hectares. The kickoff event involved Maynilad employees and various partner organizations, emphasizing community involvement in watershed restoration.
