The Future Master Watershed Steward Club at York Academy Regional Charter School engages students in grades 10-12 in environmental stewardship through hands-on learning experiences. During the 2025–2026 school year, nineteen students connected classroom science to local waterways and the Chesapeake Bay. Guided by educators and Master Watershed Stewards, students participated in stream ecology studies, water quality testing, and watershed decision-making activities. Field trips to various sites, such as York Water Company and Safe Harbor Dam, emphasized the need for community involvement in protecting natural resources.

The year concluded with a camping trip at Sandy Point State Park, reinforcing the importance of personal connections to the environment. This experience fostered camaraderie among students, enhancing their leadership skills and appreciation for conservation. The club’s success showcases the impact of collaboration among educators, community partners, and volunteers in cultivating informed future conservation leaders. The program aims to inspire ongoing exploration and protection of Pennsylvania’s waterways.
