Officials in Jasper, Alberta, are commemorating the one-year anniversary of a devastating wildfire that destroyed one-third of the town and displaced around 2,000 residents. Today, Parks Canada and town officials will provide remarks and media tours to showcase recovery efforts. A week of community activities, including bike rides and workshops, is planned. The anniversary follows controversy over a report claiming provincial interference in the wildfire response, which Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has criticized as untrue and unfair.
