The Sivaganga district administration, led by District Collector Asha Ajith, is undertaking the restoration of water bodies for the second consecutive year, supported by donors, NGOs, and local farmers. They assessed the Palar river near Seelaneerpatti village and plan to clear 26 km of bushes and debris to improve irrigation. Approximately ₹33.39 lakh is needed for the project. Minister KR Periakaruppan emphasized the Tamil Nadu government’s commitment to reviving water bodies and thanked donors for their contributions, including a ₹5 lakh cheque from the Karuppiah Ramayee Trust. Previously, they spent ₹25-30 lakh on cleaning Saruguniaar and are planning further restorations, inviting more community involvement.
