The Santa Fe Watershed Association has received a grant from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation for a three-year initiative to create the first comprehensive restoration plan for the 285-square mile Santa Fe River Watershed. This plan will involve collaboration with various stakeholders—including tribal communities, conservation groups, and landowners—to identify restoration priorities and develop on-the-ground projects throughout the watershed.
SFWA Executive Director Morika Vorenberg Hensley emphasized the importance of this initiative for community well-being. A public kickoff event is scheduled for September 17, where attendees can learn more about the planning process and contribute ideas. Founded in 1997, the nonprofit is committed to enhancing the resilience of the Santa Fe River Watershed through collaboration and education.
