Illinois’ firearm deer season begins on November 22, 2024, leading to temporary closures at Rend Lake. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced that several popular areas will be closed during this period for the Rend Lake Deer Hunt for Persons with Disabilities, including:

– North and South Sandusky day use areas, boat ramps, and campgrounds
– Blackberry Nature Trail
– North Marcum Archery Complex and Bike Trails

All sections of the Rend Lake Bike Trail will also be off-limits to non-hunters during the season, with specified closure dates. For more information, visitors can contact the Rend Lake Project Office at 618-724-2493.
