The 2025 Verde River Watershed Report Card reveals improvements in the watershed’s health, with upland areas’ grade rising from D+ to C since 2020. Restoration projects, led by various partners, have enhanced grasslands and forests, aiding water absorption, erosion reduction, and wildlife support.

Key initiatives include installing erosion control structures in Prescott National Forest and creating protective fencing in Tonto National Forest. These efforts aim to slow water flow and improve soil health. The report also highlights significant progress in water quality monitoring, increasing from 27% to 79% certainty through collaborations.

The report emphasizes the watershed’s vital role in supporting agriculture and providing drinking water for over 3 million people in Arizona, aiding communities in focused conservation efforts. The full report is accessible online.
