El Niño has been confirmed in the Philippines, with an 80% chance of it continuing until early 2027, according to PAGASA. This weather phenomenon leads to warmer ocean temperatures, which disrupt wind patterns and impact global climates, increasing the risk of extreme weather, especially from June to August.

PAGASA warns of below-normal rainfall across much of the country, raising the possibility of drought while also noting potential heavy rains in some areas due to tropical cyclones. The effects will be most significant in agriculture, fisheries, and water systems, presenting risks to vulnerable populations.

Preparation tips include: maintaining home climate control systems, performing necessary repairs, reviewing emergency kits and important documents, adjusting daily routines for safety, ensuring vehicles are ready, and staying hydrated. Staying informed about weather updates is crucial for safety.
