Construction for the Upper Bijou Park Creek Watershed Restoration Project in South Lake Tahoe will start on May 12. This initiative addresses water quality and flooding in an 850-acre watershed, targeting urban runoff impacting Lake Tahoe via the Ski Run Marina. The project includes restoring floodplain areas, improving drainage for active transportation, and implementing natural treatment systems to minimize sediment and nutrient runoff.

A key component, the Rockwood to Blackwood Drainage Improvements Project, aims to alleviate flooding on several roads and in the Heavenly Valley Estates Mobile Home Park. Construction will involve installing stormwater infrastructure and relocating utilities, affecting Woodbine Road, Rockwood Drive, and Blackwood Road. Completion is expected by October 2025. Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay updated on the project’s progress through the City’s Public Works webpage.
