The Warm Springs Run Watershed Association is set to enhance the health of the Warm Springs Run following U.S. 522 Bypass construction, funded by a $75,000 grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust. This initiative aims to restore native trees and shrubs along the bypass to benefit pollinators, birds, and improve soil conditions. The project prioritizes reestablishing the tree canopy to enhance watershed health and manage stormwater flooding.

Leaders, including Kate Lehman, emphasized the importance of native species and natural restoration techniques, such as using decomposing woody material to support plant growth. The initiative is a collaborative effort backed by local agencies, aimed at fostering self-sustaining habitats within three to five years, thus enhancing water quality and community resilience as the Warm Springs Run feeds into the Potomac River. Additional support comes from the West Virginia Stream Partners Program and the Morgan County Commission.
